What is a Balanced Life?
The word "balance" surfaces a lot in the health and wellness world, but what does it mean?
Balance in life refers to homeostasis. Therefore, this is a state in which the human body finds equilibrium on multiple levels. And when the body finds this equilibrium, we experience good health!
Living a balanced life follows the same principles. It means finding ease and harmony in all aspects of life, including;
- Physical
- Emotional
- Social
- Work
- Spiritual
Our body is actually designed to heal when it's in a balanced environment!
Importance of Balanced In Life
Having a balanced life is very important. We are now living in a modern world. We live in a competitive society. Working overtime has become the norm for most people. Becoming overly busy kept us at a distance from our feelings.
Likewise, being lazy and neglecting our priorities can be detrimental for you mentally. We’re supposed to think how we equalize our life from different sides.
Everything begins in your mindset. It’s not something that you have to find. Instead, you need to create and practice the balanced life.
Overwork and being lazy can have an extremely negative impact on your health, happiness, and most especially in the overall quality of life.
How to Find Your State of Balance
How can you find your state of balance? Here are some tips for achieving deep harmony and ease.
1. Strive to Be Present
It's all too easy to distract ourselves with outside thoughts at any given moment. We obsess over the past, the future, and even the present!
This can be emotionally taxing, especially if it leads to crippling anxiety. In fact, anxiety disorders are the most common mental health issue in the U.S.
To find balance, strive to be present. Wherever you are, be there. Doing so can reduce anxiety and depression. Moreover, it can also cultivate a deep sense of self-awareness and listening skills, both of which are valuable for harmonious relationships.
Practice body scans, meditation, and deep breathing for this. And when you're commuting, pay attention to details in your environment that you normally overlook.
Notice the leaves on the trees, for example, or the signs on a storefront. Cultivate your own observation skills to find balance in the present moment.
You can also train your mind how to live in the moment in the following ways;
Smile
When you wake up in the morning. Smile, another day, another blessing and another chance at life. No matter how busy you will be or projects on that day. You need to be able to get through them with a smile on your face.
Appreciate
Always appreciate the present moment. Our ability to feel happier comes from the inside. Allow yourself to accept the present moment, everything that is happening today has a purpose to turn you to a better person. Learn to wait and enjoy to achieve the balanced life.
Learn to Forgive
Focus on the present. You have always a choice to let go, stop reliving it. There ain’t no rewind button in our life. All you can do is make today the best day of your life. When you focus on the here and now, you have less time to think about the past.
Love Your Job
Being happy in your job helps you to be more productive and enhances your performance. Try to concentrate and stay present on the task at hand. Remember to reward yourself with mini breaks as you get the task done.
Stop Worrying
Put your time and energy into the things you can control, rather than worrying to the things that you cannot control. We cannot stop bad things from happening. However, allowing this behaviour will not help you accomplish anything, instead redirect your mental energy elsewhere.
Understand what is the importance of balanced in life to find true happiness in your life.
2. Follow a Nourishing Diet
Our diets influence our mental health more than we realize. Diets high in processed ingredients, for example, are directly linked to depression!
In order to find your state of balance, follow a nourishing diet.
A balanced diet includes some healthy food groups under it:
- Eat vitamin-rich vegetables and fruits.
- Leafy green vegetables such as legumes, peas, beans, and red and orange vegetables.
- Grains. For example quinoa, oats, brown rice, barley, buckwheat.
- Protein such as beef, pork, chicken, fish, legumes and beans.
- Dairy products such as yogurt, low fat milk, soy milk and cheese.
Try to reduce your intake of refined sugars and processed foods.
Build mindfulness into your eating habits, too. When you enjoy a meal, take your time. Savor each burst of flavor. You'll get full more quickly and you'll be more present while doing so!
3. Sleep More (and Better)
We all know how vital sleep is for emotional and physical well-being, especially immune system health. But it can be so hard to get those 7-9 hours of solid sleep every night.
To promote healthy sleep cycles—the kind that heals the body—establish a bedtime routine. Put away all electronic devices at least an hour before you sleep, and do a soothing activity in that hour, such as reading, sipping tea, or taking a hot bath.
Use sleep meditation to guide yourself into deep Zzzs.
Regular exercise can also help you achieve deeper and fuller sleep cycles. Stick to a fitness routine for better sleep and all around balance.
